Seamless Flake Flooring

The beautiful, multi-coloured Enviroflake flake flooring solution provides a lovely decorative finish that can be used in garages, amenities, kitchens, retail environments and showrooms. The flake flooring provides a subtle finish within any environment and blends in very well with surrounding furnishings. It very effectively brightens up concrete slabs and is available in a number of colours and flake sizes.

The Enviroflake flake flooring system will bridge filled grout or joint lines and is very easy to clean. These qualities make the solution very hygienic.

Preparation

Installation is performed after proper preparation of the concrete floor. Concrete must be clean, dry and etched. We recommend grinding for best results, or acid etching if this can’t be done.

Priming

Before applying the Enviroflake solution, a primer such as Enviroset 2100 must be applied to the floor undergoing treatment. The base coat (Pack A) must be power stirred thoroughly using a drill for a minimum of 4 minutes. After stirring Pack A, Pack B (E2100B) must be stirred into the mix at a 1:1 ratio. The final mix, (E2100A plus E2100B) must be applied to the floor within one hour of stirring or it will harden. Apply the primer to the perimeter of the room using a brush and apply an even coat to the rest of the floor using a 12mm nap roller. The solution will take four to six hours to dry. Thin this coat 15% with clean water. Only add the water after Part A and Part B have been mixed together and then power stir the mix for 2 minutes.

Base Coating

The process of applying the base coat and second coat is similar to applying the primer. Mix Pack A, then stir in Pack B and apply to the floor about a metre at a time. While the mixture is still wet, throw the flakes outwards from shoulder-height, in a “hand seeding” motion. Continue about a metre at a time until the room is finished. The flakes will separate in the air and float to the floor. Allow to dry overnight before starting the next stage in the process.

Shaving and Encapsulating

Sweep all of the loose flakes from the surface of the floor and put into a container for later restorative work. Next, use a floor scraper to scrape the flakes in all directions and ensure there are no sharp edges sticking upwards. You can also use a pole sander to achieve this effect. Finally, apply the Envirothane 8075 single pack cross linked acrylic topcoat using brush and roller. If there are areas you wish to patch up, use the flake you have contained earlier and broadcast it sparingly into the first coat of Envirothane 8075 then immediately back roll that area to encapsulate the flake. Apply a minimum of two coats of Envirothane 8075, leaving 2 hours in between each application, until the desired surface is achieved. Enviroflake flooring is very forgiving, enabling touch up of damage or missing areas with flake and more topcoat.

If the ultimate in flake brightness and durability is required use Vitrethane 633 Two Pack Polyurethane clear coat.
