The East End Boardwalk is a landmark waterfront project that strengthens connectivity between key destinations within Townsville’s CBD and waterfront precinct. Spanning 280 metres along Ross Creek, the pedestrian boardwalk enhances public access while contributing to the city’s ongoing waterfront revitalisation.
Designed for the demanding conditions of a coastal environment, the structure combines innovative engineering with long-term durability. The boardwalk demonstrated its resilience in 2025 when it successfully withstood a 1-in-500-year flood event, highlighting the quality of its design and construction.
To help ensure lasting protection and appearance retention, the project utilised A&I Coatings’ Vitreflon® 795, a high-performance fluoropolymer topcoat renowned for its exceptional weathering resistance, corrosion protection, and long-term colour and gloss retention. This advanced coating system helps safeguard the structure against the harsh environmental conditions typical of northern Australia’s coastal regions.
