Project Details

Location:
Brickyard Road, Geebung, QLD 4034

Size of Project:
~780m2

Completion:
2025

Multiblast Flooring was engaged to install an advanced ESD-compliant epoxy flooring system for the Rohde & Schwarz facility. The project required a durable, electrostatic-dissipative surface to protect sensitive equipment while maintaining functionality and safety. A&I Coatings was proud to collaborate with Multiblast Flooring on this outstanding project, supplying Endurafloor RC ESD and Enviroset 4116 ESD Coating Systems. Various samples were provided to assist in selecting the ideal solution.

System Featured:

Endurafloor RC ESD is a heavy-duty, solvent-free epoxy system offering superior impact, abrasion, and chemical resistance. Its light-reflective and easy-to-clean finish makes it ideal for both pedestrian and vehicular areas.

Scope of Works:

The project scope included surface preparation, repairs, and application of a multi-layered epoxy ESD system:

  • Mechanical diamond grinding to CSP2 profile
  • Crack repairs and patching using high-strength epoxy fillers
  • Application of Enviroset ESD primer
  • Installation of earthing points at 100 m² intervals
  • Two coats of Enviroset 4116 ESD in mid-grey with with a compatible non
    slip additive for slip resistance

Products Featured:

1. Enviroset ESD Primer 100
2. Enviroset 4116 ESD

Features & Benefits:

  • P1-P5 slip resistance depending on requirement
  • Easy clean
  • High chemical resistance Suitable for pedestrian, vehicular and forklift traffic
  • Low VOC
  • Good impact resistance
  • Good abrasion resistance
  • Static conductive
  • Light reflective
  • Seamless Finish

Typical Uses:

  • Laboratories
  • Defence
  • Educational
  • Resurfacing worn floors
  • Aerosol Processing
  • Solvent Manufacturing Electrical Industries Explosive Zones
  • AGV Traffic Dangerous Goods Production/Storage
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Hospitals
  • Aircraft hangars
  • Data centres

Challenges & Outcomes:

The key challenge was ensuring IEC 61340-5-1 compliance for electrostatic discharge protection while maintaining high surface strength and safety underfoot. Multiblast achieved this through strict preparation protocols and correct earthing placement. The finished floor delivered excellent light reflectivity, durability, and reliable ESD performance for sensitive equipment environments.

The client required a P3 and P5 finish that provided slip resistance without compromising ESD functionality or ease of cleaning. This was achieved through a precise technique perfected by Multiblast, ensuring the client’s brief was fully met.
