The Glasshoughton Wheel of Light is a community memorial, standing in commemoration of the Glasshoughton Colliery and Coke Works around which the community was founded.

The Wheel is dedicated to the thousands of people who worked at the site in the mining industry, including the many who died due to accident and illness.
Historically the wheel was housed in a headstock above a mine. The wheel was used to raise and lower a rope attached to a cage which was used to transport men and materials into the mine.

A&I supplied Vitreset 419 Surface Tolerant Epoxy Primer and Vitreflon 790 Two pack Fluoropolymer Topcoat for the
recent refurbishment of this icon. Use of fluoropolymer paint technology will ensure this structure looks great and remains free of corrosion for many years to come. Both coatings are designed with ease of application in mind with both products able to be applied by brush roller and spray application. The topcoat is available in an unlimited colour range.
