The Aura Boulevarde Bridge forms a stunning entrance into the new Aura – City of Colour development, set to become a vibrant new community on the beautiful Sunshine Coast.
The Aura Boulevarde Bridge is the first major piece of infrastructure for this new community and A&I Coatings were pleased to be included as the protective coatings supplier for this iconic bridge.
The bridge is constructed of concrete and has 39 steel embellishments bolted to one side of the bridge which form a unique colourful wave effect.
The coating systems used on this project were as follows:
Steel Embellishments:
- Abrasive blast clean to class 2.5 in accordance with AS1627.4
- Primer: Vitrezinc 586 to a DFT of 75 microns.
- Intermediate coat: Vitreset 416 Micaceous Iron Oxide Epoxy in two coats to a DFT of 175 microns.
- Finishing coat: Vitreflon 790 Two Pack Fluoropolymer to a DFT of 75 microns.
Concrete Elements:
- Primer: Enviroset 2100 Water Based Epoxy – 6m2/litre
- Topcoat: Enviroflon 8480 Water Based Fluoropolymer – 6m2/litre
78 colours in all were supplied for the 39 embellishments. The colours are matched so closely to each other that it is impossible to tell the difference between the colour on one embellishment and the one beside it. However the minute colour change from one embellishment to the next creates a unique vista of colour.
