How to clean an Airless Spray Painting Machine

Cleanliness is extremely important when finishing the day’s work with your airless sprayer. If an airless sprayer is not thoroughly cleaned at the end of each day it will rapidly deteriorate affecting, efficiency, output, and the quality of work.

 

Step 1

Disconnect the sprayer from the power source.

Step 2

Turn the pressure to the lowest setting and trigger the gun to release pressure.

Step 3

Put the pressure relief tube in a pail and turn the pressure relief valve down.

Step 4

Remove the guard and tip. Clean the tip with solvent and a brush, dry it and place in tip box

Step 5

Remove the siphon tube set from the paint and lower the tube into cleaning solvent.

Step 6

Power up the spray and return the pressure relief valve to its horizontal position.

Step 7

Hold the spray gun wihout the tip against the pail wall of a separate pail. Trigger spray gun and increase pressure until all paint is out of the hose and the cleaning solvent has appeared.

Step 8

Turn the pressure to the lowest setting and trigger the gun to release any pressure. Move the gun across to the cleaning pail, repeat Step 7 and allow solvent to circulate for a few minutes.

Step 9

Turn pressure relief valve to the down position and allow flushing fluid to circulate for 1 to 2 minutes to clean drain tube.

Step 10

Raise the siphon tube above the cleaning solvent and run the sprayer for 15 to 30 seconds to drain fluid. Then turn the power off, close the pressure relief valve and trigger the gun to remove solvent from the hose.

Step 11

Turn the pressure releif valve down to release any pressure and then return to the horizontal position for storage.

Step 12

Remove any filters and rinse in solvent to remove any particles or residue and then reinstall or replace if necessary.

Step 13

Repeat steps 5-10 with fresh solvent to thoroughly rinse the airless spray machine and then take a cloth and solvent to remove any residual paint from the outside of the machine e.g. suction tube, pressure relief tube, wheels, spray gun etc.
